Seamus Haji

Biography

Seamus will always say that he is first & foremost a DJ and that everything else followed. From the tender age of 16 playing hip hop, soul, funk & disco for infamous London Sound Systems in the 80’s, he was an instant crowd-pleaser on account of his technique and selection playing alongside the likes of legendary London DJs and Sound Systems Norman Jay (Good Times), Bobby & Steve, Mastermind and Rappattack.

Since the mid 90’s Seamus has produced under various monikers on many a club classic such as Mekkah ‘Race Of Survival’, Splice Of Life ‘2000 Black’, Big Bang Theory ‘God’s Child’, Get This! ‘Ya Underwear’, I-jah ‘Love The Way You Move’…the list goes on. Well-known global dancefloor staples from ‘Weekend’ to ‘Take Me Away’, his club chart #1 ‘Last Night A DJ Saved My Life’ and that infamous remix of ‘Boogie 2 Nite’ #2 UK National Charts in the 2000’s further propelled him into an International DJ & Producer.

As a DJ, he’s played all over the world & held down residencies at Ministry of Sound & Pacha in London and Ibiza and also toured for the likes of Defected, Hed Kandi & MOS across the globe. A previous official ambassador for Pioneer CDJs, he takes DJ skills very seriously. Over the last few years he’s also been taking in Australasia tours playing more chilled, house sets for the likes of Karma Beach club in various locations in Bali to main room house sets for Mardi Gras, Ivy, ARQ, Daywash & GH in Sydney & Melbourne. He’s also a regular for Brighton Pride, Manchester Pride and Toronto Pride with a strong following that love his uplifting DJ sets using many of his productions and Big Love label releases.

Seamus is also much in demand for radio mixes and compilations and highlights include two Radio 1 Essential Mixes, two exclusive Sessions releases for Ministry of Sound, a number for Defected, and he’s even released 2 comps for Men’s Health mag as well as a multitude on his successful Big Love label.

Over recent years he’s gone back to his boogie & disco roots with releases under his previous Big Bang Theory moniker such as ‘What A Surprise’, ‘Make Life Better’, Saw Your Face’, ‘Feels So Good’ and ‘Touch Me’. He also teamed up with long time DJ friend ATFC for ‘Right Track’ and ‘Confess’ and the latter was so big for Dr Packer that he asked to remix it earlier this year. His most recent EP with new name Sammy Deuce spawned the popular ‘Disco Crown’ / ‘Celebrate Disco’ in a similar same disco house.theme. His previous ‘Disco In The House’ compilation on Big Love proved proved so popular with (amongst others) Annie Mac supporting it on her World famous Radio 1 show that he then compiled Volume two.

His previous single ‘Give You Love’ on Big Love was a super strong release for Seamus going back to his underground disco roots and it was made a ‘Future Anthem’ by Mistajam on his Radio 1 show!

Seamus has also scored recent success with his ‘Boogie 2nite’ remake on Glitterbox as well as remixing Mark Picchiottis’ ‘Pump The Boogie’ for the label and revisiting his earlier release ‘I Got You’ featuring Bryan Chambers.

His previous single ‘A Better Place’ feat Kathy Brown on his Big Love label via Defected topped the Traxsource disco chart at #1 and had support from the likes of The Shapeshifters, Dr Packer, David Penn, Michael Gray, Mighty Mouse, Melvo Baptiste and JKriv and is also on the Gaydio daytime playlist.

His follow released in the Summer of 2021 ‘Disco Dreams’ featuring Mike Dunn was a big club record power played by Dave Lee, Shapeshifters, Mike Dunn and got massive reactions at Defected Croatia 2021.

He recently released ‘Better Come Again’ featuring Phebe Edwards on his Big Love imprint which has had massive props from his peers Mousse T, Jamie 3:26, Dr Packer, Mike Dunn and Michael Gray to name a few.

Last Summer Seamus and Michael Gray released ‘You Bring The Sun’ feat Phebe Edwards on Big Love which was a big hit at Defected Croatia where the duo debuted the single.

Their latest follow up collab ‘Wish’ feat current Chic vocalist Audrey Martells on Big Love topped the Traxsource charts as the number 1 Soul / Funk / Disco Release.

As always Seamus is busy in the studio with forthcoming projects to follow with Mike Dunn and Kathy Brown and some behind the scenes writing & production duties for Davie (‘Testify’ fame) and The Womack Sisters.

With a relentless schedule across all strands of his career, he is living contradiction of those who insist that men can’t multi-task!
